Having adequate housing is one of the everyday challenges that many people of southern Honduras face. Without safe, secure housing families face continual health problems and sleepless nights whenever it rains.
There is a need to standardize house construction standards in southern Honduras. Construction materials are expensive and availability is limited. It is difficult for most people to obtain loans, and interest rates are high. Sound construction methods are often not followed. We plan to build a "model" house in Choluteca. The primary goal is to model quality construction standards for the region. With a proper construction design, we anticipate  improving efficiency and effectiveness of the locally available materials.
The project will be more than a house. It will promote sustainable living. A business model will be set up allowing local communities to administer the financing of new home construction.
